book
posted on 2024-10-31, 21:55 authored by Philippa Murray
Loti Smorgon AO was an art lover from an early age. She was an avid collector throughout her life, buying from artists and galleries in Australia and overseas. Her passion for art saw her build a remarkable personal collection of paintings, sculptures and works on paper by many of the leading artists of her time. More than this, however, Loti understood the power that art holds to shape the way we live and think about the world, and was committed to sharing this passion with the community. Loti and her husband Victor Smorgon AC join the ranks of the most significant philanthropists in Australian cultural history, and the National Gallery of Victoria remains a great beneficiary of their incredible generosity. This publication is a record of the immense contribution Loti Smorgon AO made to our community, and ensures future generations of Gallery visitors will be able to share in her passion for art.
