Anti-oppressive practice with people seeking asylum in Australia: Reflections from the field

chapter
posted on 2024-10-30, 21:51 authored by Sharlene NipperessSharlene Nipperess, Sherrine Clark
This chapter explores anti-oppressive practice with asylum seekers. Australia's asylum seeker policy is highly controversial and has been roundly criticised by the international community and many within Australia itself, including social workers. The authors reflect on their experiences of working anti-oppressively with asylum seekers over the last fifteen years and explore the challenges as well as the satisfaction of critical practice in different agency contexts.
