his chapter provides useful insights into the background and mode of operandi of the banking and financial institutions in the GCC region. Utilising the patchy information available on the core topics of this chapter, the authors present the features of the banking regulatory framework prevalent in the GCC, the variety of different national legal systems and financial institutions existing in these nations, the similarities and differences in their roles of Central Banks and the reasons for which the region is vulnerable to crises. Like other chapters, this also provides a set of useful takeaways for decision-makers.
