Biocompatible conversion coatings are critical for controlling the biodegradation rate of Mg-based biomaterials and avoiding adverse effects on surrounding tissues. This chapter introduces two promising phosphate conversion coatings, which present high protection for Mg against degradation in biological environments. The formation mechanism and performance in inhibiting degradation are also discussed. Future work in the field is also proposed.
