Design of racing bicycles

chapter
posted on 2024-10-30, 20:36 authored by Lachlan Thompson
This chapter discusses the engineering design process of racing bicycles for elite athletes and uses as an exemplar the design of the RMIT (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology) Superbike. The Superbike won over 25 gold medals at world championship events and set four world track records between 1994 and 1999. The application of concurrent design methodology for an International Cycling Union-compliant time-trial bicycle for the current (at time of publication) rules is also used as an exemplar (UCI 2012).
