Flora Salim and Przemek Jaworski's clusters at Smartgeometry (SG) 2010 and 2011 (co-organised with Hugo Mulder and Martin Kaftan) introduced the concepts of interaction and physical/digital connections to the SG community. Prior to this, workshop explorations centred largely around the mechanisms of geometry and their analysis. Most members of the SG community did not even consider interaction to be possible or see the potentials within their own work. Salim's and Jaworski's work has had a great impact on subsequent SG events and now many workshops integrate aspects of interaction. Here they explain their research approach and possible implications for the creation of new design tools and design workflows.
