Future Directions for Popular Music and Parenting

In this chapter, original ideas concerning popular music and parenting are brought together as part of a conversation about future directions needed for academic disciplines to more critically engage with this topic. The chapter begins with a first-person reflective Prelude by the two authors, followed by a re-statement of the book’s main objective. The authors then present the new concepts, methodologies, inventions and understandings that they have been raised in the book, by way of presenting new research and furthering the existing (and limited) understandings of popular music and parenting. The chapter concludes with suggestions for research topics to extend these concepts into the future.
