Summary: In the short time of its existence, the Internet has become an integral part of the everyday life of large numbers of people in China. Bloggers, microbloggers, and other users participate in every kind of online activity, serious and frivolous alike, from political activism to multiplayer gaming to music and film downloading to the making of spoof films. The diffusion of this technology has spawned debates on governance, commerce, education, social security, and ethnic relations, among many other topics.
