Japanese language education and Japanese Studies as intercultural learning

Defining ‘intercultural learning’ as a space where Japanese language learners position themselves according to situated multicultural (transcultural) meaning-making freely and of their own volition, rather than being bound by their national identity. This chapter explores new educational values of Japanese language and Japanese Studies subjects.
