chapter
posted on 2024-10-30, 21:05 authored by H. Tang, J Wang, Ma QianMa Qian
Porous titanium has found a wide variety of unique and important applications including filtration, separation, catalyst supporting, gas absorbing, gas sparging, current collection, and medical implantation. This chapter begins by providing a brief review of the history of porous titanium and then discusses the characteristics of five common porous titanium structures, namely, uniform pore structures, bimodal pore structures, gradient pore structures, honeycomb structures, and closed-pore structures. The permeability, mechanical property, and corrosion behavior of porous titanium are reviewed subsequently, followed by selected examples of their commercial applications.
