Sequential Bayesian Estimation of Instantaneous Frequences

The chapter describes how the sequential Bayesian estimation framework, and the particle filters in particular, can be used to estimate the instantaneous frequencies of a multicomponent frequency modulated (FM) signal. The problem is not only to "track" the time-varying frequency and amplitude of each component, but also to detect the appearance of new components and possible disappearance of some of the existing components.
