Research Background,
The publication is a reflection of three decades of research into the globally renowned practice-based architecture research program initiated by the author (Leon van Schaik) and a community of practice that supports and advance its ambition.
Research Contribution
The publication documents a number of co-dependent streams that seek to understand how practitioners know and do and approaches to procurement of innovative architecture. Through anecdotes and a consideration of archival material, it draws a 'loose-fit' roadmap to implementing cultural change in educational organisations and developing a unique pedagogical culture and innovative practice-based research program.
Research Significance
A distillation of a lifetime of thinking about architecture and the ways in which it is practiced, researched and taught and an account of how organisational transformation was effected and shaped within RMIT.
