This catalogue essay provides an overview and analysis of the artist Rona Green's practice over the last decade. While other essays and writings on the artist have covered individual exhibitions or sets of work, my essay, "Gang Green", charted the shifts in themes, subjects and mediums within the artist's practice over the course of the decade, while also identifying trends and recurring motifs. As such, it is the most comprehensive appraisal of Green's work to date. The catalogue essay was commissioned by the artist and the exhibition host gallery, Deakin University Art Gallery, a highly regarded academic exhibition space and public art collection. Artists are able to exhibit in the gallery by invitation only, and are chosen according to their profile and significant contribution to contemporary art practice. Writers of catalogue essays are also screened by the gallery committee to ensure high academic and professional standards.
