RESEARCH BACKGROUND: Research activity in the architectural disciplines takes place both within and without the academy. In order to communicate with this broad community of research, not just to reflect upon developments occurring outside the university but also to interact effectively with that community, architectural researchers working in universities must publish their research in professional journals and magazines. While these publications do not subject submissions to the blind review process used by scholarly journals, all work submitted for publication by these outlets is nevertheless subject to peer assessment. RESEARCH CONTRIBUTION: The writings of Ian Nazareth collected in this portfolio of professional publications comprise a series of project reviews, under-construction reviews, features and critical in-conversation pieces taken together form a sustained examination of the practice of architecture in the Asia Pacific Region. The writings critically reflect on the work of several important global architectural practices, and often profile their first commission in the region. RESEARCH SIGNIFICANCE: These shorter works play a significant role in informing Ian Nazareth's design-research and teaching practice as well as communicating and dissemination architectural innovation to the wider audience. Ian Nazareth's writings have been responsible for introducing a number of exemplary practices that had previously not been profiled within Australian architecture media. The research continues to build a discourse of the impact of western models of practice within Asia, as well as the confluence of ideas between Australia and Asia. These writings have been referenced in subsequent editions of Architectural Review Asia Pacific, and widely distributed via the publication's online portal - The Australian Design Review and social media.
