Field of enquiry (published texts, practice-based studio works, curatorial) is framed within the discourse of cultural memory, within the iconography of war and peace, with a particular focus on contemporary representations of recent war by living artists. Gough is selected and shown in the Imperial War Museum, London: New Zealand War Memorial, Wellington; The Canadian War Museum, Ottawa, Canada. Key exponents of the representation of war and peace include many of the artists that Gough invited to be in these exhibitions and recorded in the accompanying large-scale and online catalogue. Research questions: How does the informed studio practitioner create visual language capable of capturing the vast scale of global warfare; What practice-based approach is best deployed to convey the essentials of trauma, recovery, peace and commemoration; How can practice-based enquiry inform the field of memory studies within the greater discourse of practice-based studio arts, photography, jewellery, media; How can these lines of enquiry be captured on-line and book format through a catalogue of text, image and provocation? Significance: On-line e-catalogue; 208 full colour page catalogue. https://itunes.apple.com/us/book/back-from-the-front/id980887643?mt=11 Invitations to contribute to academic debate, conferences, peer-reviewed publications, exhibitions, battlefield conservation and the heritage of sites of memory: Significant attention from media; including Al Jazeera television; G2 Guardian Newspaper, 27/7; Royal Academy Week.
