This project aims to combine the authors' competencies in sustainable design, material science and lean construction methods. This paper incorporates design, parametric modeling, 3-D printing and lean production techniques and principles in the manufacturing and assembly of commercial façade panels utilising recycled glass. A typology of biomimetic shapes and patterns is developed for façade panel production using recycled glass. With increased technological advancement the production can be localised, both reducing cost and increasing quality from various angles such as fire safety, sustainability, structural, acoustic and environmental performance. A business strategy is discussed incorporating aesthetics and life-cycle service as a commercial differentiator. The expected outcome is to integrate design, digital technologies and manufacturing processes across three practice disciplines to innovate and develop a commercial product. Benefits expand to public and private sectors with cascading outcomes such as localising employment and reducing carbon footprint.
