In this paper we present a multi-indices based method that can be used to compare and rank fuzzy numbers in decision making under uncertainty. The concepts of Euclidean distance and fuzzy maximum are effectively combined for determining each fuzzy number's performance index value in the process of fuzzy number comparison and ranking. To address the concern of this ranking index, two additional indices are introduced. As a result, all the information available in existing fuzzy numbers has been considered, and satisfactory ranking outcomes can be obtained. We further present representative examples in the fuzzy number ranking literature in order to illustrate the proposed method's applicability for effective fuzzy number comparison and ranking in fuzzy decision making.
