A postcolonial understanding of communication and management practices

conference contribution
posted on 2024-10-31, 16:39 authored by Emsie Arnoldi
This paper provides an account for cultural and management practice from an alternative, out-group perspective. Cultural worldviews are discussed to contextualise and highlight the unity of humanity, drawing on one such example, Ubuntu, that utilises the principles of empathy; belonging and sharing that could be an important means to surface new insights and understandings. Potential considerations for alternative and/or enriching approaches to communication and management are discussed, focusing on inclusive rather than exclusive and dominant methodological and empirical paradigms. The study concludes by proposing combinations and supplementary approaches to management and communication.
