The paper addresses the effects of geometry and physical parameters of knitted fabric structures on their aerodynamic and comfort properties. In order to evaluate whether significant aerodynamic and comfort advantages may be achieved by changing the geometrical parameters of knitted structures, 9 different knitted fabrics in plain structure (Single Jersey) were produced. Their geometry and physical parameters were measured and analysed. A fabric surface roughness model was developed and correlations between fabric geometry, manufacturing and aerodynamic parameters were established.
