As we enter into the next decade of the 21st century it becomes even more important for all organizations to maximize their knowledge assets. One industry that must pay great attention to this if it is ever going to stem the ever increasing costs and provide superior patient centric care is the healthcare industry. To date a noted laggard with respect to embracing key tools and techniques of the knowledge economy the following serves to outline the important role for the application of knowledge discovery techniques to improve efficiency and accuracy of healthcare decision making.
