conference contribution

Diabetes is one of the leading chronic diseases affecting Australians and its prevalence continues to rise. Diabetes is therefore becoming a serious challenge for both the quality of healthcare and expenditure in the Australian healthcare system. The goal of this study is to investigate the development and application of DiaMonD - a diabetes monitoring device. Powered by pervasive technology software developed by INET, DiaMonD is a wireless enabled mobile phone that can facilitate superior diabetes selfmanagement. The development and application of DiaMonD using the Adaptive Mapping to Realisation methodology (AMR) methodology is examined in addition to an appraisal of key adoption facilitators and barriers in the Australian setting.
