Enterprise resource planning (ERP) using service oriented architecture (SOA)

This paper presents the next step of Bina Nusantara University (located in Jakarta, Indonesia) Research Interest Group 'Opensource ERP Initiative' long term project. The main goal of the long term project is to upgrade the enterprise resource planning (ERP) application that developed and implemented in chosen industry in Indonesia with service oriented architecture (SOA). The propose industry in Indonesia will be Food and Beverages Industry. There are three parts in this paper to be presented. The first part is to explore the concept of enterprise resource planning. The second part is to explain the concept of service oriented architecture in details. The final part includes the description of collaboration concept for enterprise resource planning with service oriented architecture. This paper may conclude the benefit using service oriented architecture within business application such enterprise resource planning and the challenge to implement it in reality.
