Usually solids suspension in stirred vessels is evaluated using impeller power input on the basis of volume of vessel or reactor (P/V). However, Drewer et al (2000) suggested that impeller specific power could be determined as impeller power input per unit mass of solids suspended, especially for processes in which the reaction or mass transfer rates are controlled by solid surface area.
