RMIT University and University of Applied Sciences Ingolstadt have unveiled together the Australia's first hydrogen-powered racing car end of 2008 in Melbourne in a pioneering project that demonstrates the possibilities of hydrogen as the clean, renewable fuel of the future. The car will be bidding for the title of world's fastest hydrogen-powered racing car when it attempts to break the Guinness World Records mark for speed by a vehicle of its class in 2010. This research and development project has commenced in 2006 through collaboration between the two universities with the two research teams working concurrently at different
parts of the world. The paper presents the main features of this innovative international project and the outcomes achieved.
