This paper offers an exploratory approach to crowdsourcing methods, tools, and roles based on different levels of involvement of users, skills required, and types of data being processed (from raw data to highly structured dada). The paper also aims at refining different crowdsourcing categories and opening up a theoretical discussion on the advantages and limits of using crowdsourcing methods and technologies in disaster management activities.
