Student life at Victoria University is characterised by two features: the majority of students engage in paid employment alongside their studies; and, every student engages in work-integrated learning or Learning in the Workplace and Community (LiWC) as a key component of their academic course. This paper explores an innovative structured approach Victoria University has initiated which is emerging as a strategy to better align these two activities, the Students as Staff program.
