Parametric studies of a stiffened slab on expansive soils

conference contribution
posted on 2024-10-31, 09:16 authored by Jie LiJie Li, D CAMERON
In this research, a two-dimensional finite element model was used to investigate the relative importance of various design parameters in determining the behaviour of a stiffened slab on expansive soils. The parametric studies indicate that instability index and beam depth have significant effects on the performance of the slab, while the influence of elastic modulus of concrete, elastic modulus of soil and Poisson's ratio of soil are relatively small and may be ignored.
