Power savings due to peak-to-average-power (PAPR) reduction is considered for the comparison of distortion clipping and distortion-less selective mapping (SLM) methods. A practical efficiency amplifier model along with a typical digital signal processor parameters is used to compute the net power savings for both cases. The power consumed by both methods are negligible compared to the power savings achieved after the PAPR reduction. The choice between two methods depends on the implementation complexity.
