conference contribution
posted on 2024-10-31, 16:18 authored by Bilsland Christine
This paper addresses assessment-related issues critical to a university's development in the globalised education arena. The paper focuses on undergraduate business degrees delivered by a university in one country to students located in another - an activity defined as "Transnational education". Issues involved with the use of English in delivering degrees to Non English Speaking Background (NESB) students as well as cultural appropriateness and local employability relevance are discussed. The paper proposes future research into how assessment approaches and practices can or should be made relevant to transnational student undergraduates. Specifically the paper proposes further research into the local education and industry environment, into gathering student feedback and providing effective support, and developing alternative methods of assessment.
