Solving structural interaction equations in the digital age

conference contribution
posted on 2024-10-31, 18:27 authored by Nick Bardell
A review of the use of interaction equations as a means of quantifying the integrity of aerospace structures under combined loading is presented. The main methods of solution for the proportional Reserve Factor are discussed, with emphasis placed on present day industry-standard numerical methods. Examples are presented which demonstrate the comparative ease with which interaction equations can now routinely be solved quickly and accurately. The application of this capability to the design of modern aircraft structures is discussed and evaluated.
