Strategic growth :A theoretic proposition

conference contribution
posted on 2024-10-31, 16:56 authored by Peter O'Neill, Amrik Sohal
Arguments in the literature suggest that theoretic growth assertions should be tested with different models of configurational fit, which take into account the presence of organisational characteristics (such as quality, innovation, responsiveness and efficiency) and market condition (such as structural characteristics and competitive positioning). Presently theories of growth and performance in the strategy literature rely heavily on the organisational life cycle and in so doing fail to explain how an organisation can exist in a multitude of product-markets with many attendant life cycles. There are however implied growth assertions in Ansoff's and Porter's models and implied resource deviations between organisations and their strategic orientation. This paper explores a theoretic pathway for combining these models to provide insights into the differential growth and resource commitment of organisations
