A series of ferritic (grade 430) and austenitic (grade 316) stainless steels
were metal vapour vacuum arc (MEVVA) implanted with Zr, Ti, Mo and
W ions. The friction and wear behaviour of the implanted stainless steels
were assessed using a pin on disc tribometer and the corrosion behaviour
characterised using potentiodynamic scanning techniques. This paper will
report on the findings from these studies.
