Sustainability is an issue that has been widely documented and speculated upon in all circles of industry. Due to growing global concern of the issue of sustainability, the government and the construction industry in Australia have eventually taken innovative sustainable initiatives to encourage sustainable development and construction in Australia. The aim of this pilot research study is to explore the present trends of sustainability and the related barriers in Australian construction industry. A qualitative research approach is adopted to investigate the drivers, barriers and trends in sustainable construction.
