In this paper I discuss technological, social and epistemic aspects of experimental practice in high-energy physics; and how art / science residencies and collaborations engage with such aspects. I analyse qualities of art and science collaborations, and describe the processes involved in the production of a site-specific work I produced whilst at CERN.
