Networking the tradition: Curating photography in Australia

Australia's major galleries and libraries have been seriously buying and curating photographs for over 40 years now, during a period when the medium itself has undergone profound transformations. It's timely, then, to take an overview of the interaction between the institutional imperatives of Australia's state and national collecting institutions and the changes in photography as a medium.
