The rheology of cementitious pastes

journal contribution
posted on 2024-11-01, 09:32 authored by N Steward, Paul Slatter
A cement based binder used in backfilling was pumped through a closed loop pipeline at various flowrates and solids concentrations, ranging from 51 to 74 mass-% solids, while the pressure losses were measured. This procedure was carried out in four different pipe sizes. The resulting data are graphically presented as pseudo shear diagrams. These results are rheologically characterised then evaluated for laminar and turbulent conditions as well laminar to turbulent transitions using the Slatter transition model.
