The background of this work saw that it was produced during an Australia Council residency in Tokyo, in 1999. The work is an original video art work that extends the relationship between the human body, science fiction and sex by documenting a number of sex museums in Japan from the 1960's which contained science fiction themes. In this sense the work provides a historical and anthropological study of the ways in which sex was marketed to the general public in the late 1960's. The work is highly unique and original, and contributes to our understanding of how sex has been depicted and portrayed within popular culture.
This international curated show in a recognised art institution in Detroit , "New Media, Sex, and Culture in the 21st Century," featured the work of over 50 international, national, and regional artists who explore aspects of sex and culture. The Museum of New Art in Detroit is a highly respected and established institution. This work was originaly funded through a residency of the Australia Council in Tokyo
