BACKGROUND My video art work 'The Foaming Node' work was included in the Revelation International film festival in Perth. This was the world premiere of this video and was selected by Program Director Jack Sargeant. Revelation Film Festival is a well established international film festival which takes place every year in Perth. The work selected 'The Foaming Node' explores the changing definitions of the body and alternative notions for distribution of the body. The Revelation film festival includes over 120 international films presented at the festival each year. It attracts 12,000 patrons and sees over 500 films submitted for selection from local and international filmmakers. CONTRIBUTION This is a highly original work that brings with it an idiosyncratic and perverse approach to how we can conceptulaise the contemporary human body. The framing of these ideas sit within a feature length video art work which touches on elements of body horror, science fiction, exploitation films and the pseduo documentaty. The work too is a major work for me on the topic of the confrontation of the body and technology which I have been exploring in my art practice for many years. My role in this work was Director, producer, writer and editor, the sound track for the video was prodcued by The Overtone Ensemble SIGNIFICANCE The research in this work established new knowledge in the form of establishing an aesthetic language explores mediated visceral bodily material in the form of digital post production effects in new kinds of inventive ways within the context of a 65 min video art narrative. The research in the work is original and unique and extends ways in which we can consider the post human body and the notion of the body as a site of transforamtion. The work too was selected by the program director as a one of the top picks to see at the festival. The work has also been accepted into numerous other international film/video festivals.
