BACKGROUND: This is collaboration between members of the Chilean Design collective GT2P and Dr Judith Glover of the Industrial Design program at RMIT resulting in an installation at the National Gallery of Victoria for the Melbourne Design Festival 2017. This project introduced a new form of analogue ceramic casting to the local community of practitioners in a unique installation environment of making inside the NGV itself. It was one of the key works of the 2017 Melbourne Design Festival program. This work contributes to the on-going discourse in the intersection between craft and design fields over the role of technology into making culture. CONTRIBUTION: GT2P are an experimental design collective from Santiago in Chile. They are interested in material and process explorations particularly the interactions of the analogue and digital. Dr Judith Glover manages IDC [Industrial Design Ceramics] as a loose collective of RMIT lectures and students based in the Industrial Design program. Its aim is to push the boundaries between traditional techniques and new technologies through studios, visiting designers, research and industry collaborations. This work contributes to the on-going discourse in the intersection between craft and design fields over the role of technology into making culture. Dr Glover was invited to collaborate on this project with GT2P as her research with traditional ceramic making and contemporary manufacturing technologies is part of this discourse and global community of practice. SIGNIFICANCE: National Gallery of Victoria is on the ERA's List of Approved Venues for Creative Works https://www.ngv.vic.gov.au/program/international-design-project-catenary-pottery-printer/ http://www.archdaily.com/869076/this-pottery-printer-explores-the-boundary-between-digital-and-analog-machines
