This report sets out the first phase of proposed engineering actions for the five case study informal settlements of the Climate Resilient Honiara project (CRH).

The analysis of engineering interventions has been informed by previous consultations and community workshops that were carried out as part of climate action planning for the Honiara Urban Resilience and Climate Action Plan (HURCAP). This engagement activity identified priority local needs and set out settlement level objectives. Proposed engineering interventions in phase 1 were informed by site visits made by the engineering team to three of the case study settlements in February 2019 (Ontong Java, Kukum Fishing Village, and Aekafo-Feraladoa), desk top research, and other project outputs (such as LiDAR data for the settlements).

A second phase of engineering interventions have been added to the portfolio following a follow up field visit to Wind Valley and Jabros in December. Some detailed actions would benefit from data collected as part of the community profiling activity, however at time of writing this report this data remains unavailable. Based on the baseline information in this report, and community priority needs that were identified, this report also proposes a portfolio of engineering actions for implementation.
