Does gender matter? Women and Australian film and television now

This research investigates, appraises and evaluates the status of women in the Australian film and television industry. Described within the context of the history of women's participation of in Australian audio-visual industries, the central research question is: does the issue of gender matter now in Australian film and television industries? This will be achieved through an examination of the participation of women as represented in current available data (surveys, industry statistics, industry reports, research in the field), and through the Investigator's own research which draws on a variety of textual and industrial studies. This research will make a major contribution to increasing the knowledge in relation to women and film in Australian audio-visual industries.
