Within Australia, engineering degrees must be accredited by the professional body, Engineers Australia. This results in many transnational qualifications being accredited by Australia as the home country, with accreditation by the host countrys equivalent professional body not achieved. To ensure competitive advantage, Australian Universities need to be able to produce qualifications recognised within both Australia and the host nations. The main difficulty in achieving accreditation against multiple criteria is variable program learning outcomes of the host and home nations accreditation bodies. This project seeks to develop a methodology for quantifying the differences between the program learning outcomes required by different accrediting bodies, with a view to providing a means for Australian Universities to produce truly transnational qualifications which can obtain professional accreditation/recognition by both home and host nations. A reference group comprised of key institutions that are involved in transnational engineering program delivery, and professional accreditation bodies will be established to ensure transferability of the methodology to
