PACIFIC FOOTBALL : CONTRIBUTION TO THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

This report provides an overview of a research project that assessed the alignment of the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) policies and programs with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The research involved 1) desk research and 2) qualitative interviews with OFC representatives, member associations, and a National Olympic Committee (NOC). The desk research identified varied progress in different SDGs within Oceania football, emphasizing the need for more explicit integration of the SDGs in OFC policies. Missed opportunities were highlighted in areas such as water and sanitation, employment, infrastructure, reducing inequalities, sustainable consumption and production, climate change, and resilient cities.
