This document is one in a series of reports prepared under the Peri-urban Futures program. This report presents the detailed findings of a regional review that explores a series of alternative futures or scenarios for the extended peri-urban focus area. The first step undertaken in this regional study was to spatially map the business-as-usual trends across the study region. In doing this, a detailed profile of the likely impacts of development over time can be quantified. One of the main goals of scenario modelling is to investigate alternative futures when business-as-usual trends are determined to be detrimental to the broader landscape. This report specifically describes the impacts of alternative rural land supply-based interventions using existing policy and regulatory controls. While the business-as-usual scenario answers the 'What will happen' question, the alternative scenarios aim to answer the 'What can happen' question, if defined regulatory controls are enforced.
