Persons in Improvised Dwellings, Tents and Sleepers Out

This report summarises information from the national project, Counting the Homeless 2006 by Chamberlain and MacKenzie. The national report was published by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) in 2008 (available at www.abs.gov.au), and reports on each state and territory were published by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare in 2009 (available at www.aihw.gov.au). The purpose of this report is to provide background information for the evaluation of four Street to Home programs being undertaken in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. The evaluations were funded by the Australian Government Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs (FaHCSIA).
