These 'neighbourhood profiles' describe the four case study neighbourhoods of the project "Elderly as (co-)producers of neighbourhood networks in the Ruhr area" (short title: QuartiersNETZ/ neighbourhood network). QuartiersNETZ is a trans- and interdisciplinary joint research and development project, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The project team develops real and digital neighbourhood networks together with and for older adults. Such networks ensure that people of all ages can participate in public life and can also co-design it in a participative manner. The neighbourhood profiles aim to deliver a first overview of the neighbourhoods in order to understand the respective characteristics of the neighbourhoods, the prior conditions for the development of neighbourhood networks, and how the residents (50+) experience their neighbourhoods. This also serves as a basis to find out whether neighbourhoods with different preconditions need different development and networking approaches, and what type of approaches.
