In 2024, researchers at the Centre for Urban Research, RMIT University, completed baseline observational and intercept survey research at the Truganina Swamp in Altona which is a Melbourne Water Retarding Basin being considered for enhanced public access. The overall aim of this research project was to provide evidence of current community use of the site and inform the design of any potential upgrades or restoration activities.
