This thesis investigates the decision of Saudi firms to adopt and operate cloud enterprise resource planning (CERP) systems. Specifically, it examines their reasons for adopting these systems, the challenges they faced during adoption and operation, the adoption process they used, the results they obtained following adoption and the differences between CERP and traditional enterprise resource planning in terms of both adoption and operation. To this end, a wide range of established theoretical viewpoints on organisational technology (see Section 2.3 for a detailed discussion of the theories) are compared with the results of the case studies conducted during this research, to clarify how CERP adoption integrates with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 and the ramifications for Saudi organisations.
