In the internal combustion engines and most of the industries, more than two third of the energy used is lost to the environment as waste heat. Which is directly or indirectly responsible for global warming. Efforts are being made to improve the overall energy utilization efficiency of industries and the efficiency of the internal combustion engines but as it is a relatively mature technology, alternative methods to improve the overall efficiency must be investigated. One possible area of investigation is the use of low-grade heat recovery system as a significant amount of energy is lost as low-grade and at low temperature from industries and internal combustion engines. This system has yet to be implemented in a mass production, but it has the potential to reduce the energy consumption and the greenhouse emmisions.
