This PhD research reflects on the practice of Leire Asensio Villoria and her work with asensio_mah with a focus on the construction of disciplinary bridges that are strategically located within the larger framework of knowledge and concerns situated within each project.
The construction of bridging practices is enabled through the act of building associations between the different project concerns, constituents and knowledge that operate as models underpinning the crossovers between different disciplinary practices. This research asserts that the use of associative models within such practices are conceptual as well as operational devices. Driving these efforts to build associations and bridges to other disciplines and concerns is an ambition to address larger public matters of concern and to place the work in worlds beyond disciplinary autonomy.
The research has revealed that the act of constructing associations between different parameters and knowledge bases becomes a deliberate act in building a network of bridges that constitute the ecosystem of considerations within which the projects are situated.
Finally Modelling Associations interrogates how creative practice may bridge to other disciplinary knowledge through a focus on the building of associative models as the construction of what Asensio Villoria calls project cosmograms.
